FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How is Wave Wellness different from other integrative and functional medicine clinics?
At our Center, we take great pride in the team-based approach we’ve cultivated. Not only is Dr Ludington on-site and accessible, but we’ve also assembled a dedicated group of experts—many of whom we’ve trusted and worked with for years at our sister clinic, North Coast Cardiology. This collaborative model ensures compassionate, thorough care for every client.
In many other wellness centers, referrals to outside specialists—such as therapists, nutritionists, or women’s health experts—are common. Unfortunately, this can lead to “gaps” in care and communication, even with the best intentions. At Wave Wellness, we eliminate those gaps by having our team of specialists on-site, enabling seamless collaboration and immediate, effective communication. There’s no need for back-and-forth exchanges of notes or reports because our team works together in real-time.
Each week, we hold team meetings to discuss clients’ progress and refine their care plans. We also invite you to join these meetings to ask questions, share concerns, and get the answers you need without delay. This open dialogue fosters transparency and ensures your care is truly personalized.
For more on why we believe this collaborative approach is the cornerstone of exceptional wellness care, visit our blog, “It Takes a Village.” At Wave Wellness, we’re committed to supporting you every step of the way on your unique wellness journey through our innovative PATHS program.
What information do I need to provide before my first visit?
Do you accept private insurance?
At this time, Wave Wellness does not accept private insurance due to the highly personalized, time-intensive nature of our program. The initial consultation fee is $595, which includes a full hour with our doctor. During this time, she will take a compassionate, holistic approach, incorporating highly specialized functional lab testing or unique preventative assessments not available at standard labs such as Quest or LabCorp, or at traditional primary care clinics. Our treatment plans will focus on integrative therapies that go beyond the limitations of traditional, insurance- restricted healthcare.
Do you accept Medicare?
Yes. Recognizing the high demand for accessible primary care for older adults, our team is now accepting Medicare insurance on a limited basis. To learn more or schedule an appointment, please contact our office. Please note that while Medicare appointments do not include enrollment in Wave Wellness’s holistic wellness programs, they provide you access to our physician’s exceptional internal medicine expertise and the same superb, personalized customer service from our entire staff that you have come to expect from our sister clinic, North Coast Cardiology.
What should I expect at my first visit and my follow up appointments?
At your first visit, Dr. Ludington will spend time getting to know you by listening to you carefully and thoroughly, discussing your medical history and, perhaps more importantly, hearing your personal story. We believe that understanding each patient’s unique experiences is essential to crafting effective, individualized care. After this, Dr. Ludington will discuss your health goals and provide initial recommendations, including any specialized lab tests such as measuring stress hormone levels or inflammation markers or gut biome health, and will discuss additional assessments to pursue.
At your second visit, you and Dr. Ludington will review your specialized lab results and evaluate your progress so far. Together, you’ll develop a comprehensive treatment plan, which may include high-quality natural supplements, lifestyle interventions, necessary medications, and collaboration with our holistic team (see Our PATHS) to set highly personalized goals.
Follow-up visits are generally scheduled every four weeks to track progress, adjust your health plan, answer questions, and adapt interventions as needed to help you reach your goals. Between visits, we’ll stay connected to address questions, provide support, and ensure you’re feeling your best.
How do you work with my primary care physician?
Dr. Ludington and team serve as a complement to your primary care physician. We request that you maintain a primary care physician for routine care as well as urgent visits. Dr. Ludington is more than happy to partner with your primary care physician and will share information regarding your care at every step. The Wave Wellness team will be more than happy to communicate with your primary doctor and specialists directly as well to encourage a true, team-based approach to your care.
What types of specialized care do you provide?
Wave Wellness is unique because of our holistic, team-based approach to your health. We have assembled a large team of specialists to help you get the best care possible. Dr Warren’s expertise will be rounded out by additional services like therapy with Dr Julie and nutrition support with our holistic wellness NP Rachel, to ensure truly comprehensive care. Our offerings include a full spectrum of integrative and functional medicine services, with access to specialized laboratory testing not typically available through major health systems, standard labs (such as Labcorp and Quest), or other private clinics.
We also support personalized health monitoring through wearable devices, including continuous glucose monitors, Oura Rings, Fitbits, Apple Watches, and at-home tools for weight and blood pressure tracking. For a deeper look into how we leverage our proprietary VitalHealth biometric monitoring, please see Dr. Tariq’s bio. Most importantly, we listen carefully to you at every visit, and we place YOUR specific needs at the center of your care.
